The Biltmore Hotel already had a strong visual identity built into the property itself, from its architecture and interiors to the sense of history that comes with staying there. For the hotel’s in-room magazine, I developed a new masthead and editorial direction that felt connected to that environment while giving the publication a cleaner, more contemporary structure.
The work focused on creating a magazine that felt appropriate for the hotel rather than simply placing luxury content into a standard editorial format. Typography, pacing and image placement were used to give the publication a more refined rhythm, while feature layouts were built to accommodate travel, dining, culture and lifestyle stories without losing the character of the Biltmore.
A major jewelry feature became one of the visual centerpieces of the issue and eventually developed into a separate photography project of its own. The magazine gave us the framework to present that work in a way that felt connected to the hotel, allowing the editorial design and photography to support one another rather than compete for attention.
