Authentic Texas Outlaws

A feature-driven magazine exploring the legends of Texas outlaws, the lawmen who pursued them, and the historic places where their stories continue to shape the state's heritage.

Project Details

The Outlaws of Texas issue of Authentic Texas magazine explores one of the state's most enduring subjects—the people who lived outside the law and those determined to bring them to justice. Designed as an editorial publication, the issue combines historical storytelling, photography, and destination features to examine the lives of notorious figures including Bonnie and Clyde, John Wesley Hardin, and other infamous outlaws whose stories became part of Texas folklore.

Beyond the legends themselves, the publication encourages readers to experience these stories firsthand by visiting the places where history unfolded. Feature articles highlight museums, historic sites, and heritage destinations across Texas, including the Texas Prison Museum in Huntsville, where exhibits interpret the history of the state's correctional system, famous inmates, and the evolution of law enforcement and justice. Throughout the issue, editorial design, photography, and illustration work together to create a publication that celebrates Texas history while promoting heritage tourism and cultural exploration across the state.
